Some things to note:

Your voicemails in Google Voice will not forward to 8x8 because this feature has been turned off with the paid version.

When linking your number make sure you have it call you rather than send you an SMS.

Do not screen your calls when linking to 8x8 as this feature doesn't work and will leave you with someone on the other end of your phone by the time you are connected.

8x8 Troubleshooting

Call Using:

Call using is the feature of 8x8 in which you set up your number to forward to an outgoing number. This can be linked to a cell phone, landline, or a desk phone. You can also choose to leave it set to the computer which is the best option for those of you who can adjust to this. This setting is notable by a headset or desk phone icon on the lower left side of your 8x8 virtual office.

If you see the desk phone icon and are unable to make or receive calls then check this setting to make sure you did not choose the "Desk Phone" option which is only for a physical desk phone. You need to add a number for this to work properly. When connecting an external number it's best to use a cell phone number if you have a smart device. This will allow you to use the application which can still receive incoming calls. A known issue is that if you use a landline or a phone without the app your incoming calls will go to voicemail.

This feature can also prevent your mic from working during 8x8 meetings if it is set to an external number. So when you enter a meeting make sure it's set to the headset icon first.

Voicemail:

If you have trouble setting up your voicemail through the standard directions in the training videos you can also follow the setup in the picture below.

Chromebook:

If you have a Chromebook the web dialer extension is likely not going to work for your machine and you will need to use copy and paste to make your calls. This may also be true for any machine models that are using older operating systems. You can view the most updated system requirements at this website:

For those of you with physical desk phones please contact the helpdesk at helpdesk@leresearch.com so that we can help you get these reprovisioned and set up. When you contact us please have ready a picture of the back of your phone that will display the make and model of your phone along with the serial number.
